the short, honest version
Privacy
No lawyer-speak. Here’s exactly what dottr does — and doesn’t do — with your stuff.
Your codes and links stay on your device
The QR generator runs entirely in your browser. The link or text you paste is turned into a code right there on your screen — it’s never sent to us or anyone else. Your wallet is saved only in your browser’s local storage, on your device; it isn’t uploaded anywhere and we can’t see it. (Clear your browser data and it’s gone — so keep a backup.)
No accounts, no cookies
There’s nothing to sign up for, we don’t set cookies, and there are no third-party advertising or tracking scripts.
What we do count — anonymously
To know whether dottr is useful and what to build next, we keep a cookieless, anonymous tally of basic usage with Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. That means things like: which pages get visited, and which kinds of things people make — e.g. “a WhatsApp code was added”, or “a PNG was downloaded”.
Crucially, we never record the actual content — not the links, handles, phone numbers, WiFi passwords, or anything inside your QR codes or wallet. We only ever see the category, never your data. There’s no way for us to identify you or to reconstruct what you made.
We respect “Do Not Track”
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we don’t count you at all.
No ads, nothing sold
We don’t run ads or sell anything about you. We may, clearly and optionally, point you to tools we genuinely rate — but that’s just a link, not tracking.
Works offline
Because it all runs in your browser, dottr works with no connection. Analytics only pings when you’re online; offline, nothing is sent, full stop.
If this changes
If any of the above ever changes, we’ll update this page. Questions? [email protected].
